Psychiatric Evaluation

A psychiatric disorder is a mental illness diagnosed by a mental health professional that greatly disturbs your thinking, moods, and/or behavior and seriously increases your risk of disability, pain, death, or loss of freedom.

GIFTED: Genetic Information For Treating Eating Disorders

Patients will provide a DNA sample prior to the appointment. Dr Lutter will then analyze the results and present an individualized treatment plan at the appointment. This is a 90-minute session.

How can scientific advancements help treat your eating disorder?

In his book GIFTED, Dr. Lutter breaks down the science of how Whole Exome Sequencing can identify new treatment options.

Metabolomic Testing

Metabolomics is the study of all the chemical processes in the body. It is now possible to measure a wide variety of molecules important to the functioning of the body, including lipids, carbohydrates, and amino acids. Dr Lutter now offers metabolomic testing to his clients by using the NutrEval test from Genova Diagnostics. Metabolic testing can be added onto a GIFTED evaluation for an additional $500 (plus the cost of a blood draw).

Hormone Testing

Disruptions in hormone levels are a common cause of Mood Disorders like Depression and Anxiety, especially for women who experience intense mood fluctuations throughout their menstrual cycle. Comprehensive hormone mapping is now available at home using the Dried Urine Test For Comprehensive Hormones or DUTCH test offered by Precision Analytical. Hormone testing can be added onto a GIFTED evaluation for an additional $500.

Insurance Information

Patients are responsible for payment at time of service. Dr Lutter is not on any Insurance in-network provider panels. Not contracting with Insurance companies provides several advantages that greatly improve the quality of care. Firstly, new patients can usually be seen within 1-2 weeks, which can be critical to stabilize acutely ill patients and prevent the need for higher levels of care. Secondly, treatment plans are individually tailored to each patient based upon specific goals rather than Insurance company mandates. Finally, complete confidentiality is ensured as personal information is not sent to Insurance providers to obtain permission to treat.

For patients who do wish to use their Insurance benefits, I provide a statement after payment for services received that can be submitted to insurance for out of network benefits.

Cancellation Policy

I reserve your appointment time only for you (i.e., no double booking). If you are unable to come to your appointment, please give at least 24 hours’ notice. If you provide less than 24 hours‘ notice (or no notice), you will still be charged the usual fee on the day of your missed appointment.

For patients who do wish to use their Insurance benefits, I provide a statement after payment for services received that can be submitted to insurance for out of network benefits.
